First I want to say thankyou to who spent a long time with me in front of the PC and watched me paint this piece and that he took time to discuss the concept idea with me before I even started it.
I've had a picture like this in my head for a little while. I wanted to create a scene which symbolizes the bond between the girl called Lumri and the Plant Spirit. Both are completely different yet they belong together.
Defiance of the Shadow shows the earthy and untouched forest, which is yet protected by the nature of the plant spirit whilst the lethal hand of humankind forces the forests to give way. I had to create a final design for Lumri, which took me a while because I couldn't make up a good face for her. In the end, I thought that my youngest sister has the perfect look which fits to the character of Lumri. The young and childlike shape of the face yet the concentrated eyes were very important aspects which made me choose my sister as a reference for Lumri.
Also, I think it's a good choice since I almost see myself when I was a little child and had dreams like those. :3
This was also a piece I used to experiment a lot with. For example I adujsted every single brush myself which has been used for this picture and I think I will use them more often. I hope you like it! :3
:::EDIT::: Thanks to the lovely who gave me amazingly good critique on that picture, I decided to edit it. The full credit for the idea of editing it and how to do it goes to Thank you so much! <3
As always it's been a real honor to sit beside you for most of the time you spent drawing this amazing epic picture. There's something about watching a complex a beautiful thing materialise out of nothing that really does makes me appreciate the beauty of artwork a hell of a lot.
The picture itself is truely mindblowing - I really love the colour contrasts and the immaculate detail, and how the two contradicting industrial and natrual themes clash with each other, while the main characters stand out. Simple concept that accurately portrays what the Plant Spirit stands for, something which it does very well.
Exceeding and brillant effort. Hope this one will go very far. . . Thanks for being amazing.

You are very inspiring-I can't tell you how much I love this! The little girl is beautiful, and sad. The spirit looks strong, and very protective of her. I love the shadow-pollution my man. The symbolism in this picture can make one feel very vulnerable.

Omg, you make me love the color green so much, and I don't usually like that color ;A;...
It's so amazing. Like, if it wasn't so late I would write on and on for hours. The girl's hair looks so... perfectly wild. and she does, too. (we know the drill about the plant spirit)
And your backgrounds are so FUN to look at ;A;

Now, for the main subject of this comment: I recently got a Wacom tablet, and a pretty decent pen for it, but...I don't know what photoshop to get. I'm looking to be able to do something similar to what you can do; that is, digital art like that, but I don't know what kind of photoshop I should use for that. For now, I'm running on the GIMP program, but I don't really like it...I'd like to get photoshop though. What photoshop do you use, and what does it cost?
