I'm back! Hehehe. xD
So much for the haitus. XP

First I want to say thankyou to :icondarkhoodness: who spent a long time with me in front of the PC and watched me paint this piece and that he took time to discuss the concept idea with me before I even started it.:heart::heart:

I've had a picture like this in my head for a little while. I wanted to create a scene which symbolizes the bond between the girl called Lumri and the Plant Spirit.
Both are completely different yet they belong together.

Defiance of the Shadow shows the earthy and untouched forest, which is yet protected by the nature of the plant spirit whilst the lethal hand of humankind forces the forests to give way.
I had to create a final design for Lumri, which took me a while because I couldn't make up a good face for her. In the end, I thought that my youngest sister has the perfect look which fits to the character of Lumri.
The young and childlike shape of the face yet the concentrated eyes were very important aspects which made me choose my sister as a reference for Lumri.

Also, I think it's a good choice since I almost see myself when I was a little child and had dreams like those. :3

This was also a piece I used to experiment a lot with. For example I adujsted every single brush myself which has been used for this picture and I think I will use them more often. :D
I hope you like it! :3

I love the concept, and your plant-spirit looks awesome, as always. I was also surprised to see how good are you drawing humans!

Awesome! Great work.
It looks like the trees are dying at the edge where the factories are. And the factories look positively evil, as they should.
The senseless destruction of nature makes me sad.

did you make a custom brush to do all the leaves? that's a brilliant idea o_o
i'm pretty much in love with ths pic, your attention to leaves and vines and grass is just wonderful, as is your use of greens--- i LOVE how you framed the two figures in that acidic-yellow-green color, its gorgeous.
just a question--- did you make the girl gray and desaturated red so she would match the pollution above? are we supposed to assume that that's where she came from, or has some connection to it (other than simply being human)? just curious; your color has a strong narrative quality here and i wanted to see if i was following it correctly.

Holy cow this is packed full of so much symbolisim! I utterly utterly LOVE the concept you protray here, its one many earthy people can sympathize about. Those of us who crave the untouched wild nature yet we still slowly destroy for monetary reasons x_x;
The ominous looming factories spewing filth in the top part of the picture is very effectively imposing. The whole picture is just framed and posed wonderfully!
The child herself seems innocent an determined yet clinging to the plant spirit for protection still x3 I love how hes almost enveloping her.
Wonderful picture! The amount of detail put in is also very astounding

Do you have nothing better to do with your life? Go out and plant a fucking tree, you lazy bitch. Plant it most violently. Rip somebody's parking lot up to do it. Beat them violently to death with a shovel, if they try to object. ~ Alexiuss

:wow: It's so awesome!!
I just love the concept, you don't even know how much!

The wolf and the girl must represent nature and all that is good. They're surrounded by things that are precious to them and the earth (the plants). And there's always the threat of losing all of that, the evil of human creation and adult's greed could take it all.

Thanks a lot for your compliment! :3
I intended to draw the spirit look very protective and proud while she looks a bit scared. ^^

Hehehehe. I'm glad I could persuade you to like the colour green. XD
Thankies for the compliment. :D
It would look too strange if her hair was neat and combed while her clothes look as if she rolled in soil. xD
