I wasn't quite pleased with the first Cassidix version and decided to do a portrait of it, showing it's gorgeous having. The wings, which looked kinda dull in the first picture.
Believe it or not, I detailed EVERY feather, even if it was one in the shadows and if you can't see them, I did. Aah! :XD:

And for a misterious reason, my small finger hurts. lol

All has started with a ridiculous looking sketch, which consits of some messy strokes about the creature. The pic was meant to be a quick sketch with a quick colouring in Photoshop. As I showed teh first progress of it, i almost wanted to finish it and let it be like that. Just the main colour with some airbrush strokes and a few feather scribbles, as a hint to details. But as I know myself, I couldn't resist to set the first details on the feathers and got caught again.

In the end, I laid lots of time on the feathers and painted over several parts, deleted layers or edited them till I was pleased with the results. This shows the actual colourfulness of the Gryphon Cassidix and the change from feathers to fur and the hardness of the beak with it's roughness.

I stopped counting the time when I passed the first 18 hours, three days ago. :p

BTW, I spelled my name with a "Y", that's something I thought about for a while and will let it be like that from now on because I like it. Hehe

I love how much detail and work you've put into this - It really does show because of the individaul strokes and lighting on each feather on his back. The colours and the way you've blended them into each other are amazing. . . Really awesome creature design too and good pose, looks very realistic. :D

Thanks for showing me screenshots of your progress too, Schatzi - Makes me appreciate how much work you put into amazing pictures like this. :) Really amazing work.

That's amazing! Just thinking about the effort that must have gone into that is making my brain curl up into a corner of my skull and gibber.

He's just gorgeous. Can I stroke him, or will he bite me? :D I like the way he looks as though he's just about to start preening his wing, too.

I thought about spelling my middle name (Ghislaine) as Xhislaine, as that's how I pronounce it anway. But I decided not to, as it would confuse too many people (and they might think I was half-Aztec or something :D). Plus, I wouldn't be able to pronounce it with a hard G any more, if I wanted to.

Yeah, on some days, I thought that picture will never end, especially after I deleted two layers because I wasn't pleased with the first results.
I would pronounce your middle name with a hard G, BTW. It sounds kinda like a French-German mix with a touch of English. Hehe :XD:
Oh how I wish to have a "Y" instead of an "I" in my name. A change costs a lot, though.

And yeah, you can stroke the gryphon, it wouldn't bite you, it might be shy. :p

Very nice :). Personally, I liked the wings in the last version. They were a bit dull, but I liekd how soft and sihlouette like they were. I felt they added some kind of insectoid touch to it which made it seem more mystical to me, but this version is very lovely as well though. I think the detail in the feathers is absolutely awsome. I have no complaints at all about that. And the color is once again very stunning.
