All the birds have flown up and gone; A lonely cloud floats leisurely by. We never tire of looking at each other - Only the mountain and I. - Li Po
This picture temporary satisfacted my urge to draw massive mountaineous nature aspects breaking and falling apart. Rocks and soil that get torn in the air and flow for a second before they fall back on the ground and leave a totally new sculpted landscape caused by this dragon. He has slept for thousand of years and age has come to take him. So he decided not to linger on anymore and free his chains from the heavy rocks. But time has taken his strength and so he breaks apart by his very last move.
This was a lot of fun to paint because the paper used for it is coated with reflective metallic particle. Watercolours don't adhere properly so I had to coat the paint several times and make very thick mixtures to get the tones just as I wanted them. PearlEden gave this wonderful paper to me before she went back home again.
Sometimes it was quite difficult to bring any strokes of paint down as I didn't control the reaction of both the paint and the paper. This time, the paper controlled me and I had to follow its rules. The scanner doesn't give the original justice. I'm totally amazed how the result of the original looks like. Whenever I tilt the image to the sun or do a different direction, the entire picture moves along and either lets the dragon shimmer red or poke out. Sometimes, it appears very dark and only the birds and the golden coat of the paper shine through.
Although I took some pictures of ifferent ankles for you to have an idea what the paper looks like:
Talk about earth dragon god; this has to be the biggest dragon I have ever seen. This looks like it should be a card in the trading card game called Magic, the Gathering. This dragon is one my favorites now because of its sheer size.
this is amazing, i looked at you r picture that you took and it is fantastic, their is so much depth, detail and underlying color. This picture is very inspirational to me and makes me want to draw and sketch in your style, i can not wait to pick up a pencil now and rack my brain for an idea that will be an eighth as fantastic as the master piece you created, bravo with this piece; it has to be one of my absolute favorites i have seen on DA.
i love this dragon!!!!!
i really love your concept about all your dragons, they're just amazing *O*
I think that covers it.
